Vaginal Bleaching FAQ
By DrAlex
Bleaching Creams have become more and more popular over the past few decades and one of the more curious bleaching products stems from the much maligned adult industry; Vaginal and Anal bleaching. In fact, this type of bleaching has become somewhat trendy, thanks largely to a recent episode of the TV show Nip/Tuck.
So what is vaginal bleaching and why on earth would anyone want to do it?
Bleaching the private area became popular as women started to wax around their bikini line. What happened is that women noticed that there was a discoloration between their privates and their skin. This became very evident when the brazilian bikini wax became popular in the 80's.
Is Vaginal Bleaching Safe?
This really depends on who you ask. Some doctors would contend that almost all forms of bleaching creams come with some amount of risk. The difference is not only the amount of hydroquinone in the cream (which is banned in all countries except the U.S.) but also the regularity in which the cream is used.
In many cases, those using bleaching creams regularly (like over a 2 year span), have experienced in the areas actually becoming darker. This is rare though.
If you are concerned about this, the good news is that you can go to a doctor that is licensed for this type of treatment in which they can safely administer it. The other option is to do-it-yourself using a variety of bleaching creams on the market.
There are some creams such as the south beach lightening gel, which are specifically made for bleaching the sensitive areas such as the areolas, the underarms and the lips in which you can try out relatively cheap.
What I would suggest, should you decide to try one of the DIY bleaching products, is to test it first to make sure that they don't create a rash or some other skin ailment. After all, most of these types of products have some form of beta or alpha hydroxy in them...the same stuff used for treating acne.
Vaginal Bleaching Cream vs. Regular Bleaching Creams...
There really is no difference between a cream that bleaches your private areas or a cream that removes age spots from your face. The reason is that what all of these types of creams do is inhibit melanin production in your skin.
The key for picking the right vaginal bleaching cream is to make sure that it doesn't contain hydroquinone in it. While extremely effective, hydroquinone can be dangerous. The better bet is to look for ingredients that are more natural, such as A-Arbutin. Be sure to read the labels and decipher the warnings. Most of these creams will dry out the skin. Some will cause redness, much like acne medication.
