Salicylic Acid Cream- What Does it Do For Your Skin?

Salycylic Acid is primarily a natural way to deal with acne but its benefits as far as clear skin go deeper. In this hub, I intend to show some of the reasons why I believe a salicylic acid cream can be a perfect addition to your beauty regimen even if you don't have acne problems.

Salicylic Acid can be used for those who are suffering from Psoriasis, Ichthyosis, Dandruff, Warts, Corns and Calluses. It can be found in a variety of common household treatments such as Compound W (for warts), Clearasil (and other acne medications), some dandruff shampoos, and a host of beauty products that use it as an exfoliater.

It is in a medication group known as the keratolytic group, which is known to help separate the bond between skin cells. As you could probably imagine, using a salycylic acid cream for removing dead skin cells is one of the best ways to promote healthy skin because the properties in a cream that uses this acid actually exfoliates the skin.

What separates salicylic acid from other gel peels such as a glycolic peel or lactic peel is that it it is the keratolytic that that is oil soluble, meaning that it can dig deep into skin pores in which other acid creams couldn't permeate.  Because of this, salicylic acid is a main ingredient for many over the counter acne treatments.

A Salicylic acid cream is also really good for your skin in terms of building and maintaining beautiful, healthy and young looking skin.  The acid is a BHA (beta hydroxy acid) and helps to reduce fine lines on the skin with less of a risk of skin irritation (of course, you need to be sensible about applying it).

It has been used in studies in which prematurely aged skin due to sun exposure to see if it can bring the skin back to life.  What the acid cream does is exfoliate the skin, thus improving your skin's appearance and texture.

It is also commonly used in skin whitening products because of its intense exfoliation properties (part of evening out uneven skin is simply to removing surface level dead skin cells and a salicylic acid cream does just that).
