Juice Fasting Diets

Why would anyone want to go on a fast? The reasons may surprise you, especially if your idea of fasting is primarily to lose weight.

You should never fast to lose weight.  Fasting as a function is not about weight loss but about actually allowing your body to "catch up".  What I mean by this is that our body requires a lot of energy to operate.  And when we eat, our digestive system has to process and break down the food into something that is palatable to our system.

The "waste" of the food we eat moves through the liver and kidneys and is processed out as urine and feces. This "waste can be toxins, made made chemicals and processed sugars.

Have too much "waste" and your body can't process it.  What happens then is it hits the bloodstream and winds up being stored somewhere in your body...

In this hub, I intend to show you why a juice fast may be perhaps the best type of fast you can go on, especially considering the fact that we, as a society are so busy these days.

What Happens inside the body when we Fast?

Like I said in the previous paragraph, our bodies have to exude an incredible amount of effort and energy to process the foods that we eat. But the crazy part is that a lot of what we eat in this modernized society is not good for us or our bodies. Our liver and kidneys take care of this by "filtering" out the bad stuff....But when you consider that these two organs are also filtering the air we breathe as well as the toxins we absorb (like deodorants), you can understand that they could easily become overloaded with toxins.

Inflammation is another issue that your body has to eat (several recent studies have proved that eating less could be a good thing because of what it does to your body during the processing part).

By going on even a short juice fast, you are allowing your liver and kidneys a chance to take a break and "catch up".  Your immune system will be able to handle the inflammation that food causes as well.

The reason why it works is because you aren't working your digestive system out through out the day, your body can spend the energy and allocate it to releasing toxins that have embedded themselves in fat stores.

A longer fast such as a 5 day fast or a 7 day fast can release more toxins because after the second or third day, your body will go into a state of ketosis and release fat stores for energy which in turn will re-release toxins into your body to be processed and eliminated.

Is Juice Fasting Right for Me?

The problem with today's society is that it moves so fast. And while a 5 day water fast may be impractical for someone who is working 40+ hours a week, a juice fast is more manageable because it allows you to "cheat" a little and get nutrients into your body that don't require as much energy for your digestive system.

While a short juice fast won't be as effective in terms of detoxifying the body, it will help work the toxins out of your system slowly.

The longer you fast, the greater the effects.....

How do you do a juice fast? This seems like a good option for someone like me who has hypoglycemia. The nutrients and sugar from the juice can satisfy my blood sugar. I want to do a 7 day juice fast when I am off for Christmas break. My body needs a break. It keeps getting sick. I work at a school.
